The Harbour, the Airport and the City
In our program, we use three representative locations in transition as case studies for our research:
South Holland: Rotterdam Merwehaven
Mixed-use residential, business, and port area.
Flevoland: Lelystad Airport
An airport and business park.
North Holland: Amsterdam RAI Area
A conference center and mobility/distribution hub.
Based on their typologies as harbour, airport and city, we analyze and design virtual corridors in the airspace for various aerial applications, at different scales.
Merwehaven is evolving from an industrial harbor into a vibrant innovation hub in Rotterdam’s port area.
Its unique waterfront setting blends maritime heritage with cutting-edge urban development, making it an ideal site for exploring future mobility and aerial solutions within the Urban Sky Lab project.
Rotterdam Merwehaven
Lelystad Airport
Lelystad Airport combines modern infrastructure with a strong focus on sustainable and innovative development of the regional economy, employability and education.
Strategically located in the heart of the Netherlands, it serves as a testing ground for new aerial technologies and solutions that contribute to sustainable aviation and a future-proof region.
Amsterdam RAI is one of Europe’s leading convention centers, renowned for hosting world-class events and fostering partnerships.
Situated in the heart of Amsterdam, it offers an ideal environment for showcasing future urban mobility and aerial solutions as part of the Urban Sky Lab project.
